Caution: Children with low fevers are more harmful than high fevers!

The survey revealed that 55.59% of the parents' knowledge about children's fever comes from the book, 47.67% of the parents came from friends and colleagues, and only 21.5% of the medical staff received relevant information.

This leads to parents often mishandling their baby's fever. The most serious of these is the treatment of low fever in babies. Most parents have misunderstandings, which causes most babies to change from low to high fever.

01 Baby should pay more attention to low fever

First of all, when the baby's body temperature is above 38.5 ℃, it belongs to the high fever stage, and when the body temperature is 37.3 ℃-38.5 ℃, it belongs to the low fever stage.

It is understood that compared with high fever, doctors are actually more worried about babies who "can't burn out".

Because fever is one of the body's self-protection mechanisms, it is a symptom of the body in mobilizing the immune system to fight infection, so the temperature of the body is not directly proportional to the severity of the disease. Therefore, due to their own characteristics, the baby sometimes has a high fever, but the mental state is very good, can eat and sleep, this high fever is not necessarily terrible.

However, some weak and sick babies are unable to organize an effective "offensive" even if they are invaded by pathogens because their immune systems are too weak. At this time, serious infections may have occurred, resulting in low body temperature and even "can't burn" at all. This "unburnable" situation is actually more dangerous and more serious.

In addition, long-term low fever will not only affect the body's regulatory function, but also reduce the child's digestive juice, digestive enzyme activity and absorption function, resulting in negative nitrogen balance and increased protein decomposition. At this time, it is easy to appear unhealthy conditions such as weakness, weight loss, and low immune function. Therefore, we should pay more attention to the parents who are aiming at the baby's low warm-up.

02 Causes of low fever

If you want to deal with the baby's low fever correctly, you must first understand the cause of the baby's low fever in order to better solve it. There are several common reasons:

1. Reasons for own constitution: The baby metabolizes quickly, and the fluctuation of body temperature is normal within 1°C.

2. Weather causes: Related to the weather, the baby's lack of water supplement and less sweating lead to increased body temperature. After the weather cools, your baby's temperature will return to normal.

3. Dietary factors: The baby has indigestion and accumulated food.

4. Infectious hypothermia: After the baby is sick, due to insufficient treatment, there will be repeated illnesses, and at the same time, there will be intermittent hypothermia.

5. Low fever after infection: After the baby suffers from infectious diseases such as measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, dysentery, and Japanese encephalitis, the function of regulating body temperature is not fully restored, resulting in low fever.

6. Chronic infectious hypothermia: such as tuberculosis, chronic tonsillitis, otitis media, sinusitis, and urinary tract infection, etc., resulting in continuous low fever.

7. Non-infectious low fever: If the baby has blood diseases, endocrine and immune system diseases, low fever may occur.

03 What to do if the baby has a low fever

In general, fever can stimulate the body's immune system to function, kill temperature-sensitive viruses, and improve the body's immune system. But this does not mean that the baby will not need treatment if he has a low fever.

In fact, if your baby has a low fever, but feels irritable, drowsy or painful, you can take a safer Chinese medicine antipyretic medicine while cooling down physically, which is gentle and non-irritating, effectively preventing low fever from becoming high fever. The following are specific measures:

1. Replenish body fluids

In summer, the baby will lose a lot of water when he has a fever, and he needs to replenish body fluids in time to prevent dehydration caused by the fever. But be sure not to drink cold water for your baby. Your baby will often have gastrointestinal symptoms and cough when you have a fever. Drinking cold water will aggravate these accompanying symptoms. Therefore, the best way is to drink warm water for your baby.

2. Wipe bath with warm water

Wipe the whole body with a warm water towel, suitable for all babies with fever. The temperature of the water is preferably between 32°C and 34°C, and the time of each wiping is more than 10 minutes.

Focus on wiping the skin, such as the neck, underarms, elbows, and groin.

But don't wipe with alcohol, liquor, etc., because alcohol releases faster on the skin than water, that is, it takes more and faster heat away, so it is more likely to cause chills. And the baby's skin is very thin, alcohol penetration is very strong, easy to be absorbed through the skin, may appear symptoms of alcoholism.

3. Taking professional children's medicine antipyretics

Don't take the initiative to ask the doctor to give the child a fever injection or hang water as soon as he gets a fever. Most acute fevers only need oral antipyretics.

However, it is important to note that not all antipyretic drugs can be used by children. Some antipyretic drugs that some adults can take contain harmful substances for children and are not suitable for children, so we must buy professional antipyretic drugs for children ! Consult a doctor carefully before giving your child medicine!

Finally, remind parents to take their baby to the hospital for treatment if a special situation occurs.
