Fatty liver is also a disease

Do you become tired easily? Does it feel heavy on the right upper abdomen? Will you feel bloating after eating? Do you often have constipation? Is your weight gradually increasing? Do you drink often? Is the blood lipid value high?

If you have these symptoms, then be careful. You are likely to have fatty liver. The fat content of normal liver accounts for 3%-5% of the weight of the liver. Once the amount of fat exceeds 10% of the weight of the liver, it will form Fatty liver. Fatty liver is more common in adults over the age of 30, more common in men. Among them, men are more likely to be around 40 years old, and women are more likely to be in the middle-aged and older stages over 45 years old.

The occurrence of fatty liver is closely related to overeating, alcoholism and other bad habits. The patient does not have any symptoms at the beginning, but when it develops into moderate to severe fatty liver, it will appear fatigue, insomnia, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal dysfunction, and hidden pain in the liver area, which directly affects the health of the body.

If not controlled, fatty liver will develop into cirrhosis, and the process of cirrhosis is almost irreversible. The patient will eventually die from liver failure.

Therefore, it is completely wrong to say that fatty liver is not a disease. We should follow the principle of early prevention, early detection and early treatment to prevent fatty liver from becoming cirrhosis.

So how to find fatty liver early? B-ultrasound is the first choice for determining fatty liver. B-ultrasound is harmless to the human body, highly reliable, and economical. More than 95% of patients with fatty liver can be diagnosed by B-ultrasound. If B-ultrasound cannot be diagnosed, CT examination can also be performed. In CTF, the liver of fatty liver patients becomes larger, and the CT value is lower than the spleen. In general, it is slightly darker than the normal liver. In addition, blood aspartate aminotransferase (GOT) and alanine aminotransferase (GPT), etc. must also be checked. Both DOT and GPT are enzymes in the liver. When the values of both are abnormally high, it means that some function of the liver may have been impaired. As far as fatty liver is concerned, the values of GOT and GPT are mostly only mildly abnormal, and blood lipid levels may often increase. The principle of treatment and prevention of fatty liver is to adjust diet, quit drinking and strengthen exercise!
