Cause analysis and treatment of bad breath

In clinical work, I often encounter consultations about bad breath. There are many reasons for bad breath, mainly including the following:

1. Oral diseases cause bad breath, such as tooth decay, gingivitis, oral infections, etc. This is the most direct and common cause of bad breath. If you cure the dental disease in a targeted manner, the bad breath will improve.

2. The body's internal organs, gastrointestinal function, endocrine, body metabolism and impaired immunity cause bad breath, such as Helicobacter pylori infection and Sjogren's syndrome, etc., and multiple symptoms other than bad breath may occur.

3. Constipation bad breath also belongs to the body's metabolic factors. There are many women with constipation, and the bowel will block the intestine and accumulate toxins in the body, which will produce a certain amount of bad breath.

4. Psychological factors. Bad emotions cause bad breath, which is generally ignored by people, but clinically confirmed that psychological factors are also one of the reasons that may cause bad breath.

5. Eating habits lead to bad breath, which belongs to oral factors. Long-term eating of onions, garlic, salty and other foods, and not paying attention to oral hygiene can also easily cause habitual bad breath.

6. Rhinitis can cause bad breath. When a person suffers from various rhinitis diseases, the secretion of the nasal cavity flows backward into the nasopharynx, which is the "rhinorrhea" phenomenon, which triggers the nasopharyngitis inflammation syndrome, which affects the breath.

7. Smoking causes bad breath. Nicotine and other harmful substances in tobacco will affect the normal blood circulation of the human body, reduce the local immunity, and eventually cause physical diseases such as bad breath. Smoking is also a predisposing factor for various oral diseases (including periodontitis, gingivitis, oral mucositis, etc.), which causes bad breath.

8. Diabetes leads to bad breath. Diabetes causes endocrine disorders and reduces the amount of insulin secreted. Carbohydrates are difficult to break down, causing fat metabolism to be active, resulting in acetone components, which are then discharged from the mouth and nasal cavity through the lungs. This gas is what we call Bad breath.

Therefore, there are many reasons for bad breath, we must actively treat the original disease, keep the mouth clean, adjust the diet and develop a healthy lifestyle.
