Analysis of the Causes of Water Exhaust from the Engine Exhaust Pipe of Winter

The exhaust pipe sometimes drains water out of the car engine during operation, especially in winter, which makes people mistakenly think that the cooling system is bad and has leakage problems. In fact, this is a normal physical phenomenon and it is also a manifestation of the full combustion of gasoline.

After burning gasoline, it mainly produces carbon dioxide, water and a small amount of carbon monoxide. After 1 kg of gasoline is mixed with air, it produces 1.42 kg of water, which is mainly discharged into the atmosphere in the form of vapor. Because the main muffler is located at the rear of the car, the temperature is relatively low, and the inside is a multi-chamber structure, which is easy to form water. When the engine runs at high speed, the water inside will be discharged under the action of the airflow, which is a common water spray phenomenon. . Vehicles that often drive at low speeds on congested roads, especially in winter, the phenomenon of water accumulation in the silencer will be slightly more serious.

If the sulfur content in the fuel exceeds the standard, sulfur oxides will be generated after the engine is combusted, and it will accumulate in the water together with it, which will easily cause corrosion and perforation of the silencer. Park the car on an uphill ramp and bang a throttle on the spot to help drain water and extend the life of the silencer.

Auto experts suggest that if the majority of car owners are not at ease, they can go to the nearest car 4S shop for inspection and maintenance to ensure that the car condition is maintained at a good level.
